right took the engine cover off tnite and couldnt tell if i have the new or old breather its a jan 06 55 reg, so just gonna buy the full assembly and anyone got any advice on cleaning the egr? thanks

There was a link to a how to about the egr somewhere but I can't seem to find it. Anyone know where it is?

It wasn't that one. I think it was on another forum. That said the links on that are ok. The one I saw was either specifically about removing, cleaning and replacing the egr or that together with the breather. My breather's been changes (and air filter) but the egr hasn't been checked and cleaned.

Ok, the weather's nice today so I plan on changing the wheels over to the winter set I bought. If that goes well I might give it a go too. What degreaser is best to use?

Oh well, both jobs done. Only problem I had was that the cup on my small trolley jack didn't fit the jack pad so it was sliding about on the bit of wood so took twice as long. Other job only took 70 mins though so that was good - I nearly lost a dropped bolt despite being very careful but got away with it this time. Wheels look good having been cleaned and protected and I cleaned the old ones before putting them away. Time for a curry now!

Its really very easy to clean EGR valve. You can do it at your home also. You can find the material of the how to clean the EGR at the online web directory or such nice forum. You can get manual from there and than can clean the EGR valve. Breather is just connected to the air system so there is no need to clean EGR breather filter.

just fitted the new breather today, mine already had thge newer style one fitted but i had bought the whole lot as i didnt want to get it apart and find the old style one, i fitted the entire piece as i had it, it only took 1h 10 min to do!! why have i left it this long? i never changed the airfilter as i never had one but i cleaned it all out with the airline and will fit one when i do the oil service so all is good!

no massive noticable differance apart from alot better sounding turbo wistle under hard acceleration , before it sometimes sounded like if you wistle and tap your hand against your mouth! dont know if i have less smoke its dark.
