After a long search and using numerous tips and advice from this site I pick up my X5 4.4 54 plate tomorrow!!!

It's only being picked up.................not driven, silly

(Just wait for the first full fillup - I know the diesel is more ouch, but it does go a lot further )

Facelift 4.4i the most economical V8 E53 X5 made......Not 3.0d economy but some might be suprised. (especially in light of some suprisingly favourable mpg returns from 4.8is owners).

Oh & yes I know..............MPG computers can lie.

Thanks everyone - and as some have said on here......if you are worried about the fuel costs dont buy a 4.4, 4.6 or 4.8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome indeed. At least with the petrol version you won't be laying smoke screens when you pull away a bit sharpish

Have you ever been behind a V8 doing a sharp getaway? Cough, splutter, choke, where did the road go?

Just enjoy it. My 40d only gets high 20s tbh, and you've saved loads on the purchase price to more than offset the high fuel cost.
