Anyone know exactly where they are and what they look like?

Not 100% but i think this is one...check blue arrows ignore the red arrows (from a previous thread )

the arrow points to the link arm, the sensor is the small black box and arm that the link is attached to, in the top pic, the lower red arrow to the right the balck box, hope this makes sense

Nice one shadrack I posted the link to real oem as i haven't got any close up pics of the sensor itself.....it must be the only part i havent replaced so far

So the blue arrow points to what looks like a black plastic arm which is connected to another arm then into a black box?.......thanks lads.

yeh the blue arror is the arm, te smaller arm is attached to and part of the switch (black box) and the switch is mounted to a small metal bracket on the bottom of the car, why u ask have you a faulty one?

Not sure.....it's nearly 2" higher on one size.....but i changed the battery when i first got the car and i done it on my drive and it is on a angle, but surely when the car is level it should correct itself?.....i looked and the brackets seem ok, not sure whether i should disconnect the battery or try moving the arms of the sensor to see if one is stuck?....any ideas?

Also just read the thread "X5 lowering and 22'' alloys" and someone mentions lowering the air suspension by DIS.....what is DIS?

that thread i started, dis is a conputer diagnostics program, if its a sensor it should say 'self level sus inact' on the dash display, inpa/dis would diagnose if there is a problem, it could be that someone has re calibrated the ride hight but just on one side if there are no errors, i re calibrated both sides to lower mine.

I disconnected the battery today and it made no difference....... I have no errors on the dash?.............do i have to go to a bmw garge to re-calibrate this?

no you can re calibrated the heights off each side air suspension using the inpa program £15 ebay, and a lead £15 it will be the best investment

I live in newcastle upon tyne......i have just noticed the front is also down on the same side.....this means the whole car is over to one side.....but it is a 52 plate 3.0d so no air suspension on the front?

I have had a look at those sensors and the nearside which is the highest when you grab the plastic bar that attaches to the wishbone is solid with no movement, the other side theres a bit of movement side to side but not up or down.....i presume up and down determines the height.....if i was to take off both bars and pull both arms down then this should either empty the airbags or fill them up right?

Give it a go, perhaps have someone in driver seat to operate ignition key(but don't start car) and switch off if panicking.

i live near middlesboro and have dis if you get stuck, im trying to get hold of a lad selling some 22s at newcastle so if i can get hold of him i will be coming up there!
