I have noticed that when having the 'daytime running lights' on my lights are a 'yellow' colour and I have seen E70's with a much brighter 'white' colour, are these a different light option or an aftermarket change?

I do not know, I wouldn't think so as my car is a 2008 and some of the ones I have seen with the brighter halo lights are also 2008. They did not do any mods during this time did they?

Avtar, the brighter halo's you have seen on 08 cars will have had an LED fitted in place of the std halogen bulb. I have also seen a FL e70 and agree they look good also on the FL e92/93 3 serices which look fantastic.
This thread from xoutpost may help

I have to say the retro fit LEDs are not as clear in daylight as you may think and no ware near as bright as those silly Audi DRL LEDs

they can also bring up dash errors, so make sure you get them from a good source.

I have xenons, would that be an issue and also I don't really want to do anything at this stage that will impact the warranty.

I believe xenons behave differently to halogens - the drls on xenons are dimmed mainbeams which you can't do with halogens. Could be wrong on that but seen various discussions on that topic on xoutpost.

Yep, think they look silly IMHO they are so bright that when you put the indicator on the led on that side dims down so other road users can see the orange light flashing

Do agree with you that these should have just been on the R8 + RS models now every egit in an A3 1.6 thinks hes in an R8

Apparently I have recently heard that DRL are going to be made standard across europe for all new vehicles sold after 2011.........which is why Audi are working with different ways of making it look semi-decent
Must admit prefer the Bimmer way of doing it........cant wait to see vauxhall and fords effort

Both vauxhall and ford have the LEDs on xenon equipped cars
