Hi there, names Paul, just joined up. I am a member of a couple of other BMW forums but thought why not join up a dedicated "X" forum.

Had an X3 for the past four years and adored it, brilliant car that was perfect for everything we needed from a car but had to make a decision to either keep it for another four years or change it.

The new X3 is too big as a second car and wasn't presenting the value for money that the original X3 did so we made the the decision to go for an X1. This is a second car so suits our family needs perfectly. Got a cracking deal on a brand new one so was difficult to turn it down.

Went for a space grey 18d xdrive sport with manual box.

Pics of the cars, firstly our previous X3:
Day we picked up the X3.

I really like the X1, good ride on the non RFT shod 17s, perfect for us.

I know the 18d engine isn't the most powerful but if we want to go and embarras everything else on the road we also have this

Anyway, hope to be part of the discussions here ;) .

Welcome Paul!

Will be good to have an X1 owner on board. You are rare!

But..... Where were you when you had the X3! :poke:

Only kidding fella but you'll have valuable first hand experience of owning one of them - who knows we may get some other X3 forum members... :tumbleweed:

Great cars you have there, neighbour has an E61 M5 - bloody nuts, them cars! Hope you have it covered under warranty!

Welcome indeed

I'm told we will have the same chassis on our soon to be built Mini. The X1 is a rare beast indeed around here (North Beds/Cambs border) although I am beginning to see a few more these days.

Thanks guys, got to say I love the X1, sure it is rare, more so in sport trim but it is a cracking drive and plenty of space for us given that it is built on the three series platform. There is little point in my opinion in buying an X1 in sdrive guise, just doesn't make sense to me.

James you cheeky sod  . I don't get time for cleaning cars nowadays!!

Is that why you keep breaking it so the dealer cleans it for you ? :poke:

How goes it Mystic?

Still not done that manual CSL conversion then?

Very rare those X1's, for a second car to an M5 it makes perfect sense too. I like it!

Ah, the manual CSL  . Maybe once upon a time but i have owned the M5 for two years now and quite like the SMG so suspect I could live with the CSL SMG. Still looking for a good black CSL to replace the M5 and also run a 520d as an every day car, but there is another idea i have but that is for another time.

Got to say I really do like the X1, very good drivers car, handles pretty much like an E90 touring which is no bad thing!!
