I've just got hold of a 2.5 tonne trolley jack and whilst it seems to work well the jacking points are less than accomodating.

I think what I need it something like this (the silver bit)

To be found on this page.

I've seen JACK PADS but not one yet that has a stump that would drop into the hole where the supplied CUP would go

Anyone seen or know where to source such an item at reasonable price?

Yeah he did and so did the tall guy with the tractor and dodgy accent!?!

But a quick search on bay and you'll have what you need.

I've just seached lezmtaylor's posts but can't seem to find anything :(

It seems such an obvious piece to maufacture and the best I've seen on Ebay and the like are flat pads with the square bit on top. Whilst it provides a flat surface it leaves room for cup slippage on the jack.

I've read that some have used a hockey puck.....not sure about the X5 though. If only I had acces to a scrap bin and a welder

Cheers Sanj...thanks for picking them out....but

These are flat underneath are they not?

I was thinking there was one with a post below that fits into the jack too, are those not dangerous with the small cup of my trolley jack as below

Must confess at not looking in detail at these but pic 2 or 3 on the 2nd link shows the adaptor in the trolley jack and then the rectangular piece up inside the car. Is that right? I'll have to check before I can say it's right or not....?

PM Lez tho - I'm pretty sure he made his own??? Lez I need one too - if you get time! ;)

I've just had a thought re this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-JACK-PAD- ... 927wt_1139

If it drill slots at four corner of the compass on the underside then the prongs on the cup will drop in and provide grip and no slip...

bad idea??

That link...I went back and read again.....It needs a flat surface so I read....damn

"This jack pad tool is intended to be used with a floor jack with a flat bottomed cup that is at least 3-inches in diameter and no more than 5/8-inch deep"

There's a market here waiting

Back to original question and no they're not dangerous with the flat bottom. The jack head has four raised edges at each quarter so no need to worry. 2 tonnes of weight and you'll not see that move too much!Holds it in place.

Dear though at that price - make it yourself if you can!

Make it - you know your craftsmanship and probably cheaper! There is nothing to it with the right tools and raw material.

Of which I have neither!

In a previous employment before thatcher I'd have had a dozen made by now....welding, turning, milling, drilling, tapping

I could make it in wood but that wouldn't do...wont give up though...it can be done
