Hi from way up north
Hi from way up north
Hi
Not much to say in a newbie section other than that.
I'm currently running an E60 M5 and a 1999 204 bhp caterham 7 but have decided I need some more practicality and roof for my play toy so it's a change of both vehicles for me. The M5 should be gone in about two weeks and so I'm on the lookout for a 15k ish E53 with as many toys as I can get. I will prob have to settle for a higher mileage car but as long as it's reliable then I'll be happy. The original plan was to get a shogun or a pathfinder but as the nice cars were up to 15k I realised that I could just get an e53. That would quench my need for a BMW in my life, get me offroad to my fishing grounds, give me practicality for doing the house and garden up, enough speed to do me day to day and still have some comfort. 3.0d E53 seems to be the perfect choice then. So if anyone has the right car for me, get in touch!
The remaining money is going with the caterham money to buy a new toy, namely a 991 turbo. Yes i am a lucky man!

Re: Hi from way up north
Thanks guys
Both cars are tremendous fun. The M5 is a truly astonishing car and yes it has been lowered. Well, it was, until I put it back to standard for selling. It's also sitting on 20" hartge wheels in the pics. But it is going as it's just not practical for me. The mistake I made when buying it was checking if it had folding seats and it doesn't. That means trips to the old DIY centres are pretty much useless. I was going to go for a newish E70 but it wouldn't have been fast enough day to day and I am wary of how much money it would lose in two years. I've lost too much dough in cars over the past 8 years so want to stop that pattern. Because no roof on the caterham I just don't use it often enough so thats going too. The need was for one practical, fastish car and one toy that wouldn't lose value too much. Mate who I bought the caterham ended up getting a 996 Turbo and so I have fallen for that. X5 for day to day big stuff and 911 for my fun when I don't need the room for more than 1 passsenger or much luggage. perfect (I hope).
As I said first project is to find an X5 in a fortnight once the M5 goes

Re: Hi from way up north
It's a tuned to the moon, K series 1.8, loads done to it, forget pistons, bigger valves, more agressive cam, bigger throttle bodies, laods of carbon etc. All good but it's going to go as I just dont use it, it's too wet at home. I've only done aprox 500 miles in a year!

Guessing somewhere between 200/230 much past this and its a time bomb waiting to go off. Looks good with the carbon wings/chip protectors.
