Low pressure fuel pump buzzing

Had my radiator replaced recently and asked the mechanic (who I know well) to check over the car as we've only had it a few weeks, he mentioned that the low pressure fuel pump was noisy (buzzing) and may well pack up before too long. How hard are these to fit? I see that bmwpartsonline have two varients (£100 and £160) so not too bad, it sounds like its under the car, around the passenger seat area?
thanks

Hi mate
The pump is located under the splash guard(hard plastic skid plate) on the under body of the car on the passenger n/s of the outer floor pan. The under tray is held in place by a number of nuts and bolts , it is straight forward to remove but slightly awkward as it locates tight up to the rear prop shaft so you have to raise the car off the ground as high as you can get it to enable enough of an angle to swing the cover out once you have removed the bolts.Once the cover is off the pump is very easy one securing strap clamp two fuel pipe clips and the electrical block connector.
It's an easy DIY job just the cover is a bit fiddly, I would buy the dearer better quality pump and replace the relay that feeds it located behind the glove box while you are at it as the contacts may well be burned if the noisy pump is pulling exess current.

great stuff, many thanks, will give it a go. Is the diesel filter in the same area? Just thinking I may as well replace that while I'm at it...
cheers
