E70 40d ordered. Now the long wait...

Reposting - doesn't look like my post via ipad / tapatalk went through?

Great forum and some of the posts proved valuable in my model and options selection, particularly the posts on the M Sport paint chipping issue with the 20" wheels - in the end I went for the 20" wheels as i don't stray off the main roads too often and didn't find the ride that harsh.

Just got 89 days to wait now! Trying not to count them...

I will be selling my 2007 Touareg in the next month or so and was planning to go through webuyanycar.com. I got a quote from them round about February time and then again about a week ago but the valuation had dropped by about £7k! Has anyone else seen this kind of drop in such a short time frame?

Don't go through them. They rip people off! Use them as a guide!

Sell privately and get the MOST for your car.

If it's of any use, the depreciation on a 2005 E53 3.0d is of the order of £500-£600 per month. I was offered £14k in px in Sept 10 for the E53 and I thought that was a bit low.

I absolutely agree with Sanj, you really need either a private sale or a dealer sale /px. Definitely do NOT go through the site you mention. They're out to make as much money as poss, and that means cutting the worst possible deal for you. They are a place to sell if you're either desperate of have a heap to get rid of. They ought to be called neversellyourcartous dot con :x

You should have no trouble selling in much more 'profitable' (for you) venues.

Just to add - they have been on the news for their 'poor show'. Google them.

Private sale if you can...

Congratulations - you are going to love it !! I'm certainly really enjoying mine. The 20s do look better no doubt, and if you find the ride fine then great. Glad you found this site helpful - it's the best X site imho. What options did you go for ?

I got a feeler price from WBAC and then got 7k more in p'ex from the main dealer!!!!
They buy any car from people who are up the veritable creek and need something, anything, fast.

Thanks Sanj, just had a look at some of the articles written about them and yes, I will be giving them a wide berth! There initial quote looked fair even if the actual price was knocked down a bit, but the recent quotes are a joke! I should have no trouble selling as it's in really good condition and only 23k miles on the clock.

Glad to hear your enjoying the new car MJim. My wife has a 335d so I was already used to and liked the firmer ride and handling. The X5 I test drove didn't feel as harsh, and the handling was much better than my Touareg. I went for the following in the end:

X5 4.0d M Sport
Carbon Black
20" Wheels
Oyster Nevada Leather
Comfort Seats
Interior Trim - Brush Aluminium
Media Pack
Head-up Display
Internet
Voice Control
Speakers - BMW Professional
Comfort Access
Telephone USB Audio Interface
Mobile Application Prep
Sun protection glass (rear)
Exterior trim, high gloss shadowline
Roof rails, shadowline
Exterior Folding/Dim mirrors
Reversing Camera Top View
Seat Heating - Front
Sunblinds - rear side windows
Third Row seating
Aircon - 4 zone
Side view cameras
Aux heating with Remote Control
Speed limit display
Bootlid Powered
Active Cruise Control

Very nice spec. And yes the X's do handle much better than tbe VW, or any other 4x4 i've driven for that matter... :D. The 40d is a very nice powerplant too.

Yes great spec you have there! I particularly enjoy the top view camera - invaluable for city parking, active cruise and heads up display. The professional audio is good too once broken in.

And it's not that bad a wait really..............well alright maybe it is.

But it could be worse! When I ordered my E53 in May 2004 I was told it would take 14 months at first. The Dealer traded a build slot with someone else and got it in 10 months. :D Now that was a long wait!!! :tumbleweed:

I received an update today that the car has been built and shipped and should arrive late July. As I'm not able to pick up until mid August I've opted to wait until 1st Sep. Not that bothered for the latest reg but seems silly not to for the sake of two weeks.

Only 8 weeks away which will come round in no time...
