Are fog lights directional

Just spoke to my dad who is on his way back from Scotland back to NL. He hit a pheasant on the road and the fog light has now disappeared inside the bumper, so I assume it needs replacing.

To avoid him going to BMW in NL and get some silly price for a replacement I thought I would just get a fog light in the UK and fit that when they come over to see me in a few weeks.

I am just not sure if foglights are directional though, i.e. would a UK passenger side foglight be the same as a European driver side one?

Don't think so, as in non-directional for LHD or RHD. I thought they just produced a wide, flat, short distance beam. I don't think they're even checked at the MOT except to see if they work. None of the kits I ever fitted had directional lenses or mirrors.

Thanks for that, hat was what I thought, just wanted someone to confirm it.

To be honest, don't think the foglights have ever been used (or will be) so as long as they fit, I think he will be happy :)

To help confirm - not directional but may be different in lens design. What's the car pvr?

2009 X3, but the parts seem to be listed as the same as the E53 X5 hence me posting in here :)

Looked and the lens may be the same - will PM you (think you just rotate through 180)

As long as you don't put a rear one in I think you'll be ok. :D

Knowing the make/model of car if these are anything like the X5's then there is a black plastic clip that fits on the edge not seen in the pic AND it has the protruding 'v' shape clips that will go into the hole and 'clip' into place.

Ask if there is any sign of a black plastic pic about 4 inch long missing (paint is clean, etc) where it would otherwise be.

Makes no sense to me, god knows how you will understand this!

Can't help with the second pic... sorry.
