I got home from work on Monday and spotted this in the osr tyre:





They were quite worn anyway so it's time for two new rear tyres. Are Toyos still the value-for-money favourite ? I'd prefer a non-directional tread pattern really, but I don't want to spend £200 each on Continental or Michelin. £150 each is bearable.

Are your wheels the oem 19s? If yes then I have a complete set (front and rear) of michellin diamaris with 5-6mm on them which were going on eBay soon, pm me if interested, I guarantee they'll be cheaper than the figures in your last post.

If you are going with brand new then toyos are still very good value for money.

Can anyone tell me the best make / cheap tyre I can get , o yeah oem 20'

Should be £165ish for the rears and £145ish for the fronts. Try online and then get them fitted locally to be most cost-effective.

Other makes are out there but don't compare for overall grip, wear and price. They're an all season tyre.

Not bad for 20's.

I'm a fan of Vredestein and just had some new rears fitted on Saturday (315/35 R20), £210 each, all in including balancing and tracking at a place called Longbridge tyres in Birmingham. Very impressed as he took off my winter rubber and wheels and swapped them for free.
I now have Vreds all round for my summer rubber - SUV Sessanta.I much prefer them to the OEM Diamaris - grippier, softer, no-tramlining and better riding. I suspect that they will probably wear faster but they are 2/3 of the price. Fronts have done 18k so far and loads of depth left.
I have Toyo Proxes on my Z1 which have also been excellent.

Yeap Vreds were also a consideration but being Summer only treads I couldn't justify the wear rate, needed something I wouldn't have to/want to change. Another great trye - a lot talk about the 'tread' pattern being REALLY nice too.

Yep, in my view they are!
Just got round to fitting them to the rear having had them on the front for a while.
I spent a lot of time researching tyres - didn't like the Diamaris on 20s. Felt too harsh to me and there was an issue raised on the old forum about premature wear in the middle on the rears. The Vreds are not too common but get a lot of very positive reviews if you look around. I had also bought Vredestein winter tyres which I was really impressed with.When I bought by 4.8iS at 27k it still had the OEM Diamaris on the front and a brand new set of Bridgstone Duellers on the back. I changed the fronts at 36k and suddenly the tramlining, which had been a problem, vanished. Been waiting for the Bridgestonen rears to wear down to justify changing them.
They are clearly a softish rubber and, according to some reports, can wear quite quickly although I have to say I've had no issues with my fronts so far.#
I'm delighted and they do look good.

I think so. On a US forum I found a comment that they did not have the top US "wear" rating although I have to say my experience with the fronts so far has been good - 10-12k and look pretty similar to the new ones.
The Diamaris I had from new on my diesel ( 19 inch wheels) lasted 48k which I think I'd struggle to match.I'd hope for 35-40 from the Vreds. As I've commented, I find them a better drive.
Obviously all depends on driving style and individual criteria!

I vote Toyo's & Camskill to supply I had them fitted to the wife's 4.6 & they are good. Camskill's service was spot one they supplied front & rears when no one else could.
