Curently running a 2006 OEM nav map so have bought (but yet to load) a V32.2 firmware update and 2011 map from naughtymaps.com - the accompanying bumf suggests that after the 2006 map issue, subsequent BMW/NAVTEQ maps no longer provided TMC access in the UK - is this the case?

No, all BMW map DVD's contain the TMC codes required for TMC in the UK. On the other hand, no BMW map CD's contain the TMC codes.

just to reconfirm - i upgraded to a genuine bmw 2009 map dvd and tmc works just fine.
05 stirling grey 3.0d Auto. mods - park heater, reverse cam, aux in

BMW only started using Navteq quite recently. The earlier ones were Tele Atlas sourced. And as has been said, all DVDs contain the TMC licence & keycode.
