It is known i have had some serious frustration with 'BMW' recently and with good cause if i say it myself. The quote for a battery was laughable, who in their right mind would pay £480 for something available for very much less.
Unrelated, but because i had been searching for something that eBay obviously thinks is related, i got a "you may also like"
https://ebay.us/m/cmkLe8 ,
Oooh yes ill have several please. MSRP £16 for something costing pennies

I don’t believe that it’s just BMW. A colleague has just been quoted more than £400 for an ‘Inspection’ and oil change on their Škoda SUV. That’s more than they were paying on their 5-series. The Škoda has a smaller engine, simpler transmission and is much cheaper to buy. But.
Main dealer prices are rising because their franchise costs (to whichever car manufacturer they offer) are racing up as well. These dealerships have expensive premises and, from what I’ve seen, fewer customers. My local dealership chain have chased me 3 times in a month to come and talk to them about their great offers so I’ll buy another one. They’re getting desperate. I’ve already told them that their EVs are falling in value faster than a brick off a tower block. There is just no way that I’m going to take that kind of hit. Either BMW get their pricing better, or make cars that hold their value better….you know, like their ICE models. The response? Utter silence!
I paid £360 for a 4 years inclusive service plan for me i4. That same package is now £605. There’s little to nothing done apart from brake fluid and cabin filters, and a safety check.
My old local Škoda dealership switched brands because his sales target for the year was 300+ new vehicles. He’s in a small rural town and had absolutely zero change of hitting that. So he’s gone to one of the Korean brands.

As an "old geezer" i grow ever more disheartened. I've owned BMWs for about thirty years now, having once been a devoted Alfa owner. I had a brief flirting with Land Rover but learned quickly and the hard way, that wasn't a good choice.
BMW customer service and servicing used to be exemplary, but it has been in steady decline for some time. I'm not in the market for anything new or even pre-owned but should i, I suspect it would be from an Asian maker. Five or seven year warranties are hard to ignore.
I think the word that encapsulates my view on BMW now is, disaffected.

The government dictating to a free market what they should buy isn't working out so well is it ? It has to change or these brands are finished.

Just to let you know, due to the bmw dealer attitude, after 30 years of bmw ownership, I decided to purchase a new Porsche Macan, I have to say the car is fine but the dealer and even Porsche themselves are absolutely terrible, once I parted with the money, they failed to respond to calls or emails, or return my calls, I have never had such poor service, the next time I also would go for one of the Korean brands!
