Hi guys

With the rising tyre prices, and the ridiculous price for ⭐star marked Run flats. What are you guys using and how is the affecting the car In terms of transfer case and transmission.
Any particular brand that you are using, all opinions welcome.

I have the staggered 275 40 20
And 315 35 20

Mine is under OEM Extended Warranty still so I have to use ⭐️ tyres. I’ve got Bridgestone Duellers on at present and they were £880 fitted about two years or so ago. That was a full set. Dealer quote at the time was north of £1,300.

I’ve had Dunlop SportMaxx, Continental ContactSport 5 and Duellers in the past. The Bridgestones last the longest. I’ve got the same size wheels as you.

Is yours the E71 X6?
I usually buy part worn ⭐ marked run flats but their prices are now close to new prices so I was thinking of going down the none Runflat midrange tyres. I know you guys might not agree with part worn but I got myself recently x2 315 35 R20 Dunlop runflats oem for £220 with 7mm but they were difficult to find.

As long as they’re safe then it’s fine. At that tread depth that’s a good result. For me I would look at the manufacturing dates - I know there’s no hard and fast rule on tyres other than with trailers - so if they’re good, then you’re good to go.

It wasn't exactly a long-term test, but I had budget 'Thee A' fitted on the E70. No obvious or immediate issues, and the ride was rather nice. I measured the rolling radius and they met BMWs criteria.

If they are the same brand and thread depth all round I cant see you having an issue with non runflats

My winter set are Pirelli non runflat and they’re fine. I don’t use them now as they’re well past safe (almost 15 years old) and I can’t find replacements as BMW no longer use that size combo and no one else does either. :(

My 4.6 is currently on Khumo Ecsta 20" staggered set (£700 fitted) comfortable and quite wet grip is great and they appear to wear well The E70 is running Hankook Ventus (£850 fitted) 20" staggered set great tyres at a reasonable price and no transfer case issues with either car
My winter set (Wintrac Extreme 19") for the E53 like X5 Sport's haven't needed to go on the car for 5 years at least, the Winters have been so mild a hard frost is about all we have seen
