Had my X6 for just over 8 years now, bought it when I got rid of my C63 AMG Mercedes. 11 years old registered in 2013 with 110k on the clock now. Mechanically sound and just sailed through it's MOT with no advisories. Anyway the paintwork and wheels were starting to look a little tired so had what is called a resurrection detail carried out from a local detail shop. Booked in next week to get the wheels refurbed and diamond cut at another local company next week. I love this car and have no plans to get rid just yet.

Nice :D Mine could do with a bit of tlc as well. At almost 15 years old, some of the paint needs a polish. I’ve been looking at polishers for a while, but they’re kind of expensive for a half-decent DA type. Given I’m only likely to use it once in a blue moon.

I still think the E71 is the best looking of the X6 versions…..I might be accused of bias though.

Same as I think the E46 is the best looking of the 3-series (pre-Bangle era BMWs).

Thats shiny 😄

May i be bold and ask what it cost? I had a quote only this week to perform the same work on a similar car. Budget given was c£400 plus £100 to refresh the headlamp perspex.

Rather a lot i thought.

Be careful with the headlight treatments. Headlights are factory coated with a special anti-UV coating that cannot be re-applied after market. If they’ve been polished then you’ll need to re-polish them at regular intervals (every couple of years or so). If the coating is kept intact then you should be fine.

£400 doesn’t sound bad. We had a member on the forum some years back who offered a full detail and the cost was about £800 at that time.

I think perspex headlights are a bain to most car owners. Safer than glass for pedestrians of course but they always fog with age . Replacing the front covers is a serious undertaking given the work required to remove the lamps. If contemplating complete unit replacement, a mortgage is likely to be required, in addition to the physical work,, the lamps cost, and not forgetting coding.

I’d rather have glass too, but safety rules say otherwise these days. The answer being not to step in front of cars!

Cost was £400. That was with a 25% discount as one of the xmas offers. It was originally £350 with a 3 year ceramic protection but I opted for the 5 year protection which should have been another £100 but he did it for £50. He had the car for 4 days.

I see your profile says Sunderland, are you able to say where you had it done?
