Evening all. Need to do the front and rear differential oil change soon. What oil are people using

Which engine version? One version (40d with Dynamic Performance Control option) has a three chamber rear diff with two separate and different fluids. If you do have that (or any DPC equipped version) then the outer chambers use SAF Carbon Mod, with the centre chamber using SAF XO Burma’s Castrol.
Ideally you should change all fluids from front to back. Both diffs, gearbox, transfer box. Gearbox uses ZF Lifeguard 8
Front diff uses Hypoid G2 (up to 02/2020), replaced by Hypoid G5 Fuchs Titan EG4399 from 03/2020..
Transfer box uses BMW DTF1.
There are specific process to be followed and the actual amounts used, especially if you have a DPC rear diff are critical. Do not overfill them.
A full change on my X6 (uses the same fluids throughout as I do also have a DPC rear diff) was just over £1,000 at a BMW independent. The guidance was to only use BMW Approved oils which he got via a main dealer.
