Can anyone tell me what the card slot in rear view mirror ,on 2012 x5x E70 lci . What card would go in it
What is it for.

At a guess it could have been for the integrated universal remote control. There are a number of other possibilities. This page from Realoem lists the various mirrors available/installed.

Might be mentioned in the Owners Manual. If you haven’t got a Manual, you can get a PDF from BMW that loads into their ‘BMW Guide’ app. You just need your full VIN.
Just to add, your ‘as built’ spec via something like mdecoder on line may solve the mystery as to what options were on board when built in Spartanburg.
