Windscreen washer jets
I have noticed the jets on the Mrs X3 are aiming very low, not much above the wipers.
The question is can they be adjusted? I have looked and there doesn’t seem to be any obvious way, or is it more likely the reservoir needs a clean (I have read several stories about sludge in BMW washer reservoirs) or maybe the pump is not functioning at full power?
Any thoughts ?

This help…..? It’s for the F25 so should be right.
For your other question, I have only used BMW Screenwash concentrate (bought in 5L containers) after using someone else’s and ending up with gunked nozzles and pumps in my E53 20 years ago. The OEM stuff contains Isopropyl Alcohol that stops bacterial growth (the white gunk) from growing. Smells nice too….

It will most likely be algae in the pump filters below the pumps .

The dreaded black gunge.
Washer tank off was the only way for my clean out.

Nor mine, and I’m an engineer!! It gets worse when you have E, F and G series Beemers and then add M, N and B series engines
To solve your equation - Your car is an F25 version of the X3

I hope the tank isnt located where an E71s is. Had the osf wheel off, wing liner and trim and dropped the sill cover to access it. Got a bill in the £000s and a present of blue/white jelly like stuff. Galling when its only had BMW fluid in my years of ownership

So has anyone actually removed the washer bottle from an F25 and can testify as what is involved? It is relatively simple as per my Z4 diy job… or does it involve taking half the car to bits as referenced by Sapphireblack above?

It looks like the tank sits quite high up in the wing. The pumps you'll need to access though are buried at the bottom.

From the good book……
Remove front right wheel (I only have something that says it’s in the right wing)….and for some reason the repeater indicator as well. I assume that would foul the bottle maybe?
Indicator removal: - special tool is a pair of credit card sized plastic trim tools. Wheel arch liner removal (not different years have different ways of fitting! Getting the bottle out and in….

For what it’s worth I placed a tube down the filler neck disconnected the washer jet hose near the o/s bonnet hinge sucked water up through the hose so gravity pulls the water out the washer bottle place a hose pipe slowly filling the bottle up and at same time blow air down the washer jet hose and watch the crap come out the gravity hose did mine when I first purchased the Car as it was blocked and been perfect since worth a try before dismantling the car
Hope it makes sense and works like mine did
