Finally - a new owner of an X5!

Hooray –after a long patient search (lasting a good 6 months) for my perfect E53 I’ve finally gone and bought one! I am now the proud and happy owner of a 2005 3.0d in Carbon Black, with all the options I was looking for (Comms Pack, heated leather seats etc.) and more.
Picked the car up a couple of days back, have to say the X drives like a dream. I actually felt more comfortable just cruising along at 70mph in the first/second lane of the motorway rather than thrashing it any further like I tend to do with my 1 series!
During my search I test drove 3 variants of the facelift X5 - the 3.0i, the 4.4i V8 and the 3.0d. I have to admit that nothing beats the drive of the V8, the 3.0i petrol just felt too underpowered for such a big vehicle. The 3.0d however is perfect for the more prudent amongst us!
Although during my extensive inspection of the vehicle there was nothing amiss I noticed the PDC was playing up last night. Whenever the PDC is engaged the sensors emit one continuous tone as though the car is stood next to an obstacle (no flashing PDC light though). Carried out the usual “check the clicks in the sensors†test and all seems fine but I think I may have uncovered the culprit – the front registration plate has come loose at the ends which I think may be blocking the line of sight of one of the front sensors. Tonight’s task it to get this sorted along with connecting my iphone 4 to the Bluetooth.
Just wanted to say thanks to all forum members who have helped with my various queries (special thanks to AW8 and Tombs). Hope to post pictures soon !
