2015 X1 windshield weatherstrip loose
2015 X1 windshield weatherstrip loose
Anybody ever had the windshield weatherstripping on an X1 come loose? Should that be glued in, or is it just held in by compression?

To the forum.
I don’t remember anyone reporting/asking about this in the past.Which strips are you having trouble with?
There is a rubber weatherstrip along the top that has an aluminium inlay within that the screen itself fits into. That is glued in with a bonding tape that comes as supplied from the factory. If it’s that one then you may need a complete new one.
Also two gutter strips (one each side) that are held on the special clips. Those should be available from a dealership.
Have a look at RealOEM and use the last 7 characters of your VIN to pull up the right parts list. The data hasn’t been updated since 12/2019 due to BMW changing to an on-line, Dealer access only system, but as yours is 2015, the parts will show up. I think glass and trim come under the ‘Vehicle Trim’ section.

Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

For the weatherstripping on the X1 windshield, it's usually held in place by compression.
Gluing it down could work, but it might mess with future repairs.
If it's coming loose, check for any debris or dirt that might be affecting the seal.
Sometimes a good clean and re-seating can fix it up.
