I've had the X for 4 years plus now - originally the Castrol site said 0w 30 and I stuck with it, now the site says 5W 30 (sorry from memory).

Go with what Castol or Mobil are doing best, you'll need 7.2/7.3 litre for a complete oil change... Google/ebay/etc

I used Castrol Edge 5w30 for my recent oil change and found it cheapest by far in ASDA (£30 for 4L I think)

hi all, sorry for resurrecting this old thread but its nearly oil change time again and i'm still non the wiser as to which grade of oil i now need.
Originally castrol recommended edge 0w30 td sold with black tops -ie; specifically for diesel engines.
This appears to be no longer sold as its not even on the castrol website anymore. Now castrol recommends 5w30 for my car but in a red top can ie: for petrol engines.
My question is this: surely an engine oil suitable for both petrol and diesel engines is a compromise on both!
Castrol still sell black top edge in 5w40 td form so they dont want to compromise with that, so why do it with 5w30?? Any thoughts? :|
