Hi guys I own a 35d m sport 2009. However I purchased a non running 2014 30d m sport N57 which looks like has significant engine damage. I bought it for half of what it's used value is. Is the engine repairable? Or would you get a new used engine? Block only? Or should I get with ancillaries?

Currently I'm thinking get the engine rebuilt by an indy mechanic who used to work for Almondbury bmw.
Would appreciate your feedback

Rebuild would be my choice if i planned on keeping the car.
That way you know it's good for years to come.

Coming from an E70 and an M57 twin turbo. I'm abit worried after seeing the negative press the N57 has received especially after police contract has ended. There's Alot of chain failures or spun bearings due to long life service intervals.

I think your right about the rebuild option.

If its rebuilt and then well serviced every 10k I doubt you will have much bother , Is it repairable? ...depends whats wrong with it , If the crank is scored badly its probably beyond economic repair .

My guess without stripping it, is that it's spun main bearings and damage to crank. Will find out once engine is stripped down. I'm hoping can rebuild
