Intravee + CD autochanger compatibility
Intravee + CD autochanger compatibility
Thinking of fitting an Alpine KCA i-pod interface (via intravee II) but am given to understand from various posts that the OEM CD changer will not work alongside (Jan 2006 E53) - is this true and if so, can an alternative Alpine changer such as the CHA-S634 be substituted?
Re: Intravee + CD autochanger compatibility
Correct, the OEM CD Changer must be removed.
Any Alpine AI-Net CD Changer (CHA-xxxx) can be used, but you will also need an AI-Net switch (KCA-400c or KCA-410c) as well as the changer if you want to use the KCA-420i iPod interface as well. The switches are hard to come by, but do come up on e-bay from time to time. Unless you know that you will need to use a CD Changer from time to time, I'd advise that you don't go for this straight away, you'll probably find you never use a CD again. As a fail safe, you could leave the CD Changer in the car and re-connect it if you need it, it's a 30 second job.
