				Hi all
New owner of F15 X5, previously owner of F11 535d.
Enjoying the high driving position
Pleasantly surprised by the handling- was expecting more of a tank

360 camera is brilliant
Really like the interior.
A couple of issues
Slight judder on braking - prob warped discs
Front passenger door soft close not working. Can hear it whirring but not pulling the door in.
Car previously lived at the seaside so some nasty corrosion on the black scuttle at the front of the engine bay
Other than that car is good. Looking forward to getting stuck in

Andy

				Hello &

BMW SUV/SAV have always handled better than any other that I’ve driven. They’re surprisingly fast too

Please !! SAV is the only correct term if referencing a BMW X model. SUV is a term more for pick-up trucks and lesser machines

That said SUVs are off road capable, SAVs not so much

I’ve had my X6 on grass……does that count

I remember Clarkson test driving an X6 on TG. It couldn't (according to him) climb a wet grassed hill.

				I haven't bought it for off-roading

Not sure about the dark wheels. The previous keeper had them done recently and they were much darker than he expected.
Rusty scuttle and bonnet catches.

That's odd. Might just be worth approaching a main dealer on that, preferably the one who supplied it. Unlikely but BMW may respond its hardly a great advertisement for them.
Looks like a nice car and dark wheels are now my preference, but we all have different taste or course

It was bought from a dealer in Scotland according to the paperwork, which is a bit too far to go.
It's got to go in for EGR recall so I will check with Sytners then.

I've had so called good will gestures in the past. I think I'd email BMW GB with some photos and put them on the spot, "is this what i should expect from a premium product".Obviously don't say it was previously residing by the sea, but even then it shouldn't do what it has. Given the issue is localised you'd have to suspect the panel wasn't properly painted when new

That slam panel rust has got quite a hold might be best to get a secondhand replacement unless a new one is sensible money. Scottish cars have a hard life with the weather and I'd be having a look underneath at the rear subframe to see how bad it is.

If it was used near salt water that could have caused the metal moth. It’s certainly unusual and definitely worth a dealer visit.

If I have the right part, a new slam panel is over £500!!
I agree it's not right. It's a 2017 car. For the amount of corrosion I'd have expected it to have been driven in the sea rather living at the side of it

Hope you got a good deal on the purchase, fitting a new (or used) one wouldn't be cheap.
Lean on BMW, if goodwill was forthcoming, the part or labour costs would reduce your sting significantly.

Although in your pic it looks like it might bolt off but looking on realoem.com it seems it is a part of the full front slam panel
