What time is it.......... only MOT time!!!!! Not good...

Put my car through an MOT to day (4 weeks before the actual expiry date)
Failed on :
3 tyres
Rear sub-frame bushes (both front & back)
Nearside brake pipe corroded
Nearside play in ball joint
I am based in Mansfield, Nottingham and I am offering the chance to someone, if they are in the know and have the tool for the rear bushes, to see if they would like to do the work for cash in hand.
Thanks
Lee

How did you go to an MOT and fail on Tyres?? Surely thats the one thing that anyone can check and should check regularly?!
Brake pipe will clean up with a wire brush and wire wool... won't be a problem.
There was a Franklin tool for sale on here to do the Sub-Frame bushes. You could buy that, take it to an indy and get them to fit the bushes using the tool. Then sell the tool on afterwards.
Indy can do the ball joint too.

Tell me about it, not bad as yours. Mine only failed on the rear number plate light, which is out. Chamged the bulb but no go. Got a Sparkie coming to look at it on Wednesday. Hopefully save me the £200 which is what the rear units goes for at the dealers which paint!

Just had exactly the same problem. Tried to take the unit apart to see if there were any loose wires inside as everything seemed ok with no corrosion around the bulb holders. There are clips on the back of the tail gate unit but I couldn't get it to come apart. Looks as if there is a small thin circuit board running the length of the unit inside.
Any way ended up getting a new one from the dealer. £97 inc Vat. They come in either primer or matt black finish. When I picked it up the parts guy knocked me another £10 off, nice of him
One of my mates has his own bodyshop and he painted it for me for free
Just need to swap them over now.

Regarding the tyres, they did not fail on low tread but 3 of them had cuts on the inside. I am not sure how that occurred but not something I thought about checking.

Ahh, fair enough... would be hard to check for cuts on the inside really without Jacking up the car or having a Pit.
Not cheap to replace all them mate!

Thank you Gareth.
Nah, looks like I will probably change all four at the same time.
I was talking to my local tyre garage and they were telling me that the cost of rubber has gone up by 7%................. wish my income would go up 7%!
