Hi again

What's the current popular buy on front disc/pad replacement without breaking the bank?

ECP do discs
Pagid Brake Disc (Front) £58.20 ea (£116.40 pair)
Textar Brake Disc (Front) £72.80 ea (£145.60 pair)
Eicher Brake Disc (Front) £40.74 ea (£81.48 pair)

I've heard of PAGID and TEXTAR but I think I'd give Eicher a miss.

Pagid Brake Pads (Front) £43.00 pair
ATE Brake Pads (Front) £61.00 pair
Textar Brake Pads (Front) £82.49 pair
Eicher Brake Pads (Front) £26.50 pair

I've heard of PAGID TEXTAR and ATE but I think I'd give Eicher a miss.

You can get BASIC Brembo stuff too from LK performance-ebay
Brembo Standard Brake Discs 55.72 ea £111.44
Not sure what pads to pair the with though (any of the above or EBC?)

There are other deals on ebay stating mintex pads but the disc brand is anonymous...which I think would be an issue

Conclusion

1) brembo disc and Pagid pads comes in at £154.44
2) fully Pagid setup comes in at £159.40
3) fully Textar setup comes in at £228.09

2 and 3 are over the counter...1 isn't

Opinions...recomendations, alternatives, better deals at or below the pagid all in cost?

..and this is before fitting...cleaner....anti squeal

Why not give the main dealer a call they are now doing reduced cost value line parts for E53 models will be more expensive but quality is superb as is the warranty back up if needed.
Just a thought may be worth a phone call.

I fitted myself with some help from forum members and GSF parts, think Pagid but pvr and possibly AW8 have fitted Axxis. Reduced brake dust, worth considering... Said to be very good!

I used genuine BMW pads for my replacement last year but now wish i used axxis pads as i`m forever
cleaning my wheels .

Genuine front BMW pads are manufactured by Jurid and rears are manufactured by Textar.

I will be looking to change my discs and pads soon on the 4.8is. I have heard that the price for this is huge on this model due to the size of them. Has anyone used anything other than BMW parts i.e Drilled / Grooved disc replacements?

I noticed that Raj had some different Brakes on his car...

Turks.

I have Axiis pads. Bought them due to recommendations on the old forum from PVR and others. At the time (two years ago) I could only get them in the US but went to the trouble and they've been worth it. Same if not better performance than OEM and virtually zero brake dust. Think you can get them here now-

I think mine are the delux ones.

Turks, any news on options for 4.8is replacement discs / pads? I'm thinking that as I have an MOT Guarantee in this first year of AUC ownership, I may well leave things till next month........it covers all aspects of brake system.......

I had my front and rear discs plus pads changed recently on my 4.8iS at a main dealer.

I got four local BMW dealers to quote and a couple of independents that had been recommended to me. What I found surprising was that there was not much difference in price between the independants and main dealers. Although a more expensive option I went for a main dealer so as to maintain the full BMW service / maintenance record for the car. The best price I managed to get them down to was £980 all in.

Beware of the reduced servicing flyer that BMW are offering on the E53 range. I followed this route only to be told it does not apply to the 4.8iS. If you read the flyer carefully it’s in the small print.
