Hi all, tried a quick search but couldn't pin point anything easily. So today whilst driving along the satnav display, cd player and parking sensors all go off and won't come back on.

I have tried to disconnect the battery, check fault codes (won't communicate with the CCC or cd player) and check fuses (under dash - ok).

Can anyone please suggest where to look now? Car drives fine, and AC control panel working.

Thanks in advance.

There are a load of small fuses in the drivers side of the boot behind a trim panel ,there should be a piece of paper in there tucked away will tell you what they are for :D Worth a look

This might help: https://fusecheck.com/bmw/bmw-x5-e70-20 ... se-diagram
or this one as another version: https://fuse-box.info/bmw/bmw-x5-e70-20 ... -and-relay

As yours is a 2008 you will have the CCC computer based iDrive. Fuse 142 in the rear is for the CCC.

There should be a fuse card tucked away in the rear box as said above.

Thank you for the replies, I have checked the fuses under the dash which were all ok. I will look at the ones in the rear and report back.

I have this morning checked the fuses in the rear of the car and they are intact, I'm wondering if this is starting to point at a failed CCC unit?

I'd be interested to know if anyone has had one of these units repaired successfully. :D

Thanks for your reply. It looks like I may of found the cause of the issue but it's not great news!! My little boy (2.5 years old - you know that type). Has been feeding coins into the dvd player when he was left unattended for a few seconds yesterday and it's believed to have shorted the power supply board inside the unit itself

I have managed to find someone who has lots of experience with diagnosis and repair of the CCC module and I have arranged to send it to him once I've removed it for test and hopefully a repair.

I will update when I have more news and supply the contact details to anyone interested.

Ah yes, I’ve got one of those too. In his case he hid the car keys when we were 100 miles from home (and the spare). Took us nearly 2 hours to find the key down the back of a sofa cushion!

At least he’s put his contribution to the repair inside ready and waiting….

Only good news on this update, I removed the CCC module using YouTube videos for reference and sure enough the unit rattled like a piggy bank. I managed to find a video showing a guy stripping the CCC unit to replace a faulty DVD so I used this information to strip it and remove the loose change.

I found the 20amp fuse on the back of the CCC unit blown, so when I rebuilt the unit back up and replaced the fuse I put it back in the dash to test and it all works...

Very relieved and happy to get away with a couple of hours of my time and a 50p fuse to fix. But hats off to Andy Navman 07905245385 for his time in the first place, without his knowledge and information I think I'd of sent it off for a costly and in this case needles repair.

Thanks everyone for there replies to my issue, maybe this will help another parent!

I have been in touch with Andy Navman to inform him of my repair and his reply was....

Top man
I've done over 1000 ccc's
& never have I seen or had 1 with a blown fuse at back of the quad lock power plug
U must be the luckiest man alive
I don't even think u will find reference to it on forums... it just never blows
It's usually always tracks on main board or processor failure
Etc etc
So lucky

So I consider this to be a really good result, maybe I should use the coins recovered to purchase a lottery ticket? :D
