That would be my suggestion too. My 8sp was becoming a little jerky on certain smooth surfaces at low speed and the changes weren’t very good either, especially when cold. I had a full transmission service done just before Xmas (11 years and 53,000 miles) and it completely rejuvenated the system. Smooth as silk now. Cost was just under £900 for both diffs, transfer box and gearbox. Yours should be cheaper as you don’t have the torque distribution rear diff (special and expensive fluids).
Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

The lag in those zf units is usually caused by slow fill times in clutch packs and pistons, but definitely improves after a fluid change as additives will swell up seals a bit and help out, as long as you catch it before trans cooks itself. Worthwhile to replace the 4 transfer tubes between mechatronics and case during service, as they compress and leak after 100k. Dont forget to initiate clutch adaptation relearn after any service or things may not improve much. Applying latest programming files also important and can be done any time.
