BMW X1: Parking Distance not working
Hey guys
I have a 2015 X1 diesel . Recently I have had a fault with my PDC display (see pictures) and my PDC button has a flashing green light.
I'm trying to figure out where to start. I've read it could be a sensor but would one faulty sensor make all of them not work? If not that what else could it be.
Thanks in advance.

No pictures? You need to use the ‘Add Files’ button just above the ‘Post Reply’ button (at the bottom of the reply text box) or they don’t upload. You can’t insert them into a post any other way.
One sensor can cause an issue but not normally at both ends. Put your ear to each in turn and you should be able to hear a gentle ‘ticking’ as they pulse. You could have a bad wire or control unit.
Oh, and too.

I had 1 fail on my e53 and the system stopped front and rear and the button flashed just like yours.
As said above you will hear the good ones clicking.
Turn ignition on but don't start the car and select reverse then put your ear to them.

I have attached some pictures. So the one of the dash is just how my sensors are registering, with nothing. Also the green circle is showing my pdc button just flashes green.

BMW X1: Parking Distance not working
hey pal thanks for this. Will putting it in reverse also trigger the front ones to try turn on or only the rears?

Selecting reverse activates the front ones as well on my e53.
Can't help with bumper removal but have you googled it.

You may be able to get to the sensors at the front via the wheel arch (remove the trims) and the removable trim panels below the centre ones? Not sure about the rear though.

So finally got round to Testing out the sensors and my issue seems to be the front right if in the car or front left if standing outside the car (see pic). I know with electrical components on vehicles some things prefer to be OEM and others are fine aftermarket, so my questions are:
1) Can I go aftermarket with these sensors, looking over eBay and motor factors. Or is OEM best for this part
2) Are these sensors all the same size, there isn't a different size for middle ones to the far end ones?
Thanks in advance.

Not sure on your car but on my 2002 e53 x5 there are outside and inside ones listed.
But i think any fit it is the holder part that makes the difference.
Did you look on realoem for the part number then search for it.

Thanks for this, this site is a gamer changer to be able to find part numbers and compare, as there are about 40 sensors that look the same but will not work. thanks again.Alan Gunn wrote: ↑Sun Feb 13, 2022 6:45 am Not sure on your car but on my 2002 e53 x5 there are outside and inside ones listed.

Go genuine if you can, as a guide when looking for car parts left/right always look at it from the rear, so for a UK vehicle, driver side would be Righthand side and passenger Lefthand side

Hey guys,
Just wanted to give an update on how things went, so finally go round to changing the sensor on my car, I actually replaced two sensors as one was gone al together and another I had a knock that side and it had recessed it in some. Whilst I did the whole job of taking bumper off and wheels to get to rivets, o actually did more work than I needed to. With the X1 e84, it seems you only have to remove , under tray , wheels to get out rivets, a PART of the wheel arch liner (see pic) and then you can simply reach in behind the bump and swap them out. On the side where I took a knock it appears the holder for the sensor has cracked so it does not sit well no matter how much I pus it from behind. Bit either way it wasn't the worse job, I really appreciatenall who offered help, I always like to research before I attempt any job and it's great when others help to aid this.
Thanks again
