Hey Guys n Gals
Got back Monday from my trip to the bush. The car went really well and I was tracking at 11km / l (that's around the 30mpg I think)for most of the motorway section
. That figure dropped once we got onto the bush tracks to 9km / l. I must say that I was pretty impressed with the way the car handled given that it's not a true 4x4 - some of the dirt tracks were not for the faint hearted! There was lot's of rain so the place was very green. As a result we did not see much - a few Zebra, some Kudu and that was it.
The car was a bit of a mess when we got back so a quick wash and vacuum was needed. While I was at it, I decided to wrap my wood interior - Just a quick pic on my first mod.

I'm an owner of a wood x5 and have to say I really like it. Does it feel really dark in the cabin now?

And the wooden X5's are a lot more eco friendly as well
To answer your questions, no, it was not that difficult. The centre console took a while - I wrapped it without removing it as that is a pain. The rest of the wood trim took around 45 mins or so. It does darken the interior, but by the same token it gives it a more up to date feel. I guess it's a matter of personal tastes.
For those that want a more genuine effect, try water tranfer printing. I have a pic that I'll dig out and post tomorrow. It looks like real carbon fibre at a fraction of the cost. There are a multitude of patterns and colours available including different wood trims. I recently visited a company in Germany that does this and I'm sure it's available in the UK

Not heard of this before! Looks absolutely fantastic and if it is cheaper than wrapping then I think it is a no brainer if you are considering changing your Trim.
I need to do something with mine as I have been using my car as a Van recently and scratched the gearstick and a dash trim with some lengths of wood I was taking to the tip!
I have alot of ideas for the X to make it my own, it is just finding the time to get them sorted!

Check out
www.wt-direct.de. I went to visit them a few months ago - they were busy with the interior for a new limited edition corsa. Thomas Muller owns the place and though his English is limited, he really was welcoming and willing to answer all my questions. There are also quite a few videos on You Tube that you can check out. G
