Can you force an upshift

Was driving in Germany last weekend (finally vmaxed the X
), and was doing some mountain driving as well.
What was really annoying though was the gear box behaviour when going down a mountain, if slightly braking when going downhill, it decides to change gear back and go to about 4500 revs or so. I tried accelerating, braking etc but it would not move up to the next gear until it was ready to do so at its own accord.
Is there a trick to get it to change the gear up again?

Mine does the same......sometimes drops down 2 gears........great to have engine breaking......not so nice having the engine screaming its way down a hill
Have tried to give it a little throttle and it changes back up but then you have to brake and the whole process starts again

in mine when this happens, i just blip the throttle and it usually changes up again.
i think someone posted on the old forum that if you switch off the traction control, the auto downshift is disabled..

I'll give that a go and see what happens.
I have also tried to ease this issue and have recently found that really gentle breaking just before the point you feel the car would try a down change and it doesn't bother and you can have a smoother ride. I do think the X changes to eagerly. I too dislike the high rev over engine braked down hill scream, not befitting of such a marque...

Did that work? This annoys me too and the only way I've found to counter it is going in to M down hills.

stick it in m and bang it up a cog if it annoys.
