Question #1 - iPod options?

Hi all,
First question having just taken ownership of my Facelift 3.0D Sport is regarding iPod connectivity.
My car has the full comms pack including DSP sound system.
What are my options to get a solid reliable iPod solution hooked up, and please don't direct me to Hellfrauds?!?
I'm sure plenty of you have taken on the same challenge so would like to benefit from yoru knowledge!
Many thanks.

Hi mate,
Have a look at Intravee II... alot of people have got this on here (including me) and it works great with the DSP. You can find information on this forum and also here -
Intravee II
It is a solution that means your albums and songs are displayed on the Sat Nav screen and you can search, skip etc off the Nav and the Steering Wheel. There are others on here that will be able to give you more info and help...
DICE is the other option which I don't know alot about but same as above, someone should be able to advise better.
AV Leads that just plug into the Nav unit... not sure how good this is though as it will hook up through the Headphone Jack. There is also a socket in the centre console next to the rear fans... you can get a lead that hooks up to this but my understanding is that you have to have your TV function selected on the Nav and have it on the AV channel which in my opinion is a bit rubbish especially if you need to use your Nav.
Turks.

There is also the simple Aux input that BMW did as a retrofit kit. This gives you a very basic connection via a 3.5mm jack socket in the glovebox. All control is done via the ipod itself.

That kit should work, however, I'd personally never recommend using the DICE in a Nav equipped car, it will drive you nuts.

Because the control mechanism is awful, the text display is rudimentary and the number of reported problems is very high.

Eeeeep!
I've spent enough on the car recently anyway so I think I'll just burn CD's for now as the best option (Alpine KCA and Intravee) sounds complicated and pricey!

I have Dice setup as at the time it was much cheaper than the intravee and the wife tends to control the playlist anyway
It does pretty much what is says on the tin, as in it conects to the iPod and will play the music you want. I agree that the intravee is a better system with the better user interface, but if you either wish to put a iPod dock or mount at the front or stuff in the glove box or centre armrest, then it will work just fine.
Should an appropriate intravee setup ever appear at the right price I would probably upgrade as I would like some of the additional features etc, but until then, the Dice will do just nicely
Just my opinion of course ....

That's the beauty of buying one - they hardly lose any value. Not good for anyone looking for a bargain of course!
