Ooh, first post in the new section....

Just taken delivery of a Sept 20 (pre-you can't have this, or that option due to Covid )

First impressions?

Well, had an F15 M50d prior to this,and wasn't expecting much difference in performance, although looking forward to the latest model because of interior/tech etc..

Well, blow me - The B57 is in a different league to the N57 in the way it delivers the power!!!
I think it's as the N57 had 3 turbo's operating sequentially (small, med, large - Whereas the QUAD turbos on the B57 work in parallel, ie 2 x small and 2 x large..

Whatever it is, the shove off the line, and the mid range grunt is phenomenal!

Also, mine has the MSport exhaust, (+ brakes + diff ) and it actually sounds like a V8 petrol, more so in sport mode... BMW trickery at it's best??? Time will tell.

Taking it easy for now, as it only has 7k on it. Have also managed to bag the correct (printed) user handbook for it, as didn't fancy all that scrolling, and I need something interesting to do in bed!!!

I hope your enthusiasm continues unabated. Its a rather special looking motor

As soon as I saw it, I thought "that's mine" not normally a fan of dark colours, but I love it, and the grey hides the grille size

Enjoy the new wheels , 4 turbos now I wonder how far they will go 6 turbo's on a 6 cylinder ? and yes note to Bmw please please do not increase grill size anymore enough is enough

Hi, I've just made the same switch from F15 M50d to G05 M50d and would agree with you, what a motor! I loved the F15 but this one is just better in pretty much every way. My F15 was mapped and probably felt slightly quicker in some circumstances, but the way there G05 puts the power down is pretty special

Yup, B57 is a bit of an animal! Not going to map mine as its already on the torque limit for the box!
