hey guys,
just a friendly tip for those that are like me and not overly hands on technical.
Recently my nav unit started randomly crashing and was totally unusable.
Using the forum it was determined i had the dreaded dvd laser issue.
I wasnt too comfortable with replacing the laser...........
so i googled the following (hint hint)
Navteq UK-Ireland 2010-2011.iso
and found the CD version of the UK maps.
Burnt it at 1X onto a CDR and bang! all has been working perfectly with the nav for a week or so now! yay!
only side effect found so far is that read speed is slightly slower when entering a destination or booting up. but other than that its perfect!
Im sure i the cd laser bit will eventually wear away also, but hopefully ill be brave enough to do the fix by then or would have purchased a hualingan.
hope this helps at least 1 person out there!
