MK4 Sat Nav DVD player

Hi,
The screen in my car has been behaving erratically since I bought the car late last year. Sometimes the screen goes from 16:9 to 4:3 aspect ratio, the screen randomly turns off and on (doesn't affect the radio).
I figured I'd have a look inside the DVD unit, as I believe this controls the screen, and found water damage on the board inside. I've cleaned it up with electrical contact cleaner, but it's still not happy, so I'll just replace it. Am I correct in thinking that as long as it has the DVD logo on the front I can use a unit from any BMW of that era?
Thanks!

This is the parts page, and it looks as if your assumption is correct for the models listed....

I used my old E53 VIN as the reference (Dec ‘04 build) as it had the MkIV kit on board.

I did look at realoem but there are just so many part numbers for the nav units it's almost impossible to cross reference them!

I had the mk4 DVD in my E46 repaired (twice, same fault, both times of my making). I've been trying to remember the name of the company. IIRC they were somewhere within the M25, and the turnaround was very quick - certainly within a week door-to-door.
Try Googling "BMW DVD repair".

Find the part number on yours and then just go for the one at the top of the RealOEM list as that’s the latest version made. As long as yours has one of the numbers lower down - and that should match your year, all on the list (which it should) will work. They’ll just be variations on a theme with whatever components or mods the supplier made during the production life, but they will work.
