Cotswold BMW disappointment......Now amicably resolved.

Post by sapphireblack » Mon Nov 09, 2020 11:25 am

Have had a need to speak to the business today after discovering my BMW branded CTEK has failed, just a few weeks out of its two year warranty too.

So my cost of £77.45 is now a total write off, not interested in helping at all as its out of warranty.

Furious would be the politest i can muster. :x

Interestingly a couple of years ago I was in Aldi and saw they were selling off some smart chargers, couldn’t resist at £5 a charger. If it packs up it will go in a bin and I won’t feel any loss. My first CTEK lasted about 5 years the second is still going even though I drove over it and broke the casing. The cheap one has made me think that I won’t be spending £70 on another CTEK any time soon.

My ire has not subsided but I've just bought another MXS5 from Amazon, cost just under £57. I didnt realise CTEK offer a five year warranty, BMW branded similar are only two.

The other CTEK has been fine, i'll give them another go.

As to Cotswold and BMW GB, the less said the better :x

The CTEK importers do not offer repairs on the BMW branded charger :( This suggests to me it is inferior as well as offering less functions but costs considerably more.

The feeling of being taken for a ride is prevalent :(

Following my persistance and lengthy chats with BMW GB, who in turn had discussions with Cotswold BMW, an amicable settlement has now been reached :)

Well that's decent of them , especially as Ctek have a 5 year warranty as standard and I doubt the Bmw sticker would change that :D

In effect the BMW sticker reduces the CTEK warranty from five to two years.

So, you pay over-the-odds for it and get less warranty. Must make sense to someone.

That was a point within my argument.

TBF to Cotswold BMW they only invoke BMW rules, my argument was no goodwill for something only just out of warranty.

My compensation refund is actually coming from BMW UK via Cotswold and is due later today.
