Hey guys

Our 20" alloys seem to be losing lacquer around the central hub (centre insert area) - before I go trooping off to stealers anyone else had this ?

Btw car is a Nov 10 !!! Didn't expect this
Seems to be both rears only

I'll take a look at mine and report back, but you should take it in to your dealer and see what they say :fingertap:

I have 2004 19" alloys and they are practically mint condition. This shouldn't happen under normal use, however the coating will breakdown if its been scratched or scored in someway (near the hub is obviously not kerbing)

Take it back and see what they say

Possibly down to harsh chemicals used at your favourite car wash?

checked mine and these are the same as your picture, as the car is 12 month old showed them to dealer and comment was that i now need to show them to the dealer principle at the bodyshop that they own who will make an assessment if its corrosion or wear and tear.also he needs to see the rear arches as they have stone chips starting to show and they have already resprayed a few under warranty .

Should not be a problem. I had 6 (yes 6) rear wheels replaced on my M due to flaking. They supplied a new type from the US (wheels 7 and 8) which are now fine after 2 years of use.

Ive just had a full set of 20s replaced under warranty from the dealer for the same reason. The polished rims are very difficult to repair

Do you any of you guys use acid based wheel cleaners like wonder Wheels?
Not saying that's the cause here, just curious.

No, I don't use any chemicals on my wheels, the laquer on BMW wheels just doesn't seem able to withstand anything harsh. I just use soap and water.

Interesting. All 4 of mine showing the same wear after 4k miles - new Sep 11.

Most car washes spray the wheels these days. Do you guys ask them not to? Anyone use the sprays and not have issues?
