Hi.
My 2010 BMW X5 E70 has a low speed turning clunking noise coming from the nearside front suspension. Also sometimes at speed going over a pothole etc.
Looking online suggests swaybar link ends.
Is there a way I can rule anything else out before replacing them? I have looked under the car but cannot see any obvious damage.
I was about to order new links from eurocarparts. Lemforder I believe are OEM. I get 2 options for my VRM:
Driving Dynamics With active stabilizer or Driving Dynamics Without active stabiliser control.
How to I tell which version i need?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Does Realoem list the variants under an option code? Then it’s case of checking whether or not you have that option fitted. There are some BMW Vin decoders that will give you your build sheet from the factory.

Hi X5Sport.
I'll have a look at real OEM now.
Thanks for the advice.

Hi guys.
So I have changed my sway bar link ends but it hasn't resolved the issue.
If the front nearside wheel goes over a speed bump or pothole I get a loud clunk.
I also get it low speed turning sometimes going from one lock to the other.
Everything looked ok when I change the sway bar link ends.
What else could it be or where should I start looking next?

Are all of the underbody protection shields fitted correctly - no missing screws/rivets/bolts etc? Not sure if your model has anything mounted behind the wheel arch liner, but it could be something that simple. Worth a look.
I’ve got an odd clonk from the front of our E46 but can’t find anything loose. I suspect the accident repair centre did not fully refit everything after our entire front bumper was stolen - yep someone stole an entire bumper to order - and replaced with new. I need a ramp to get under the car and have a proper look without being a contortionist lying on the ground. There’s so much hidden I feel I’m chasing a ghost half the time.

Had something similar yesterday the passenger front disc dust shield is made of 2 pieces ,the small piece is riveted on and some rivets had failed, made a terrible noise on bumps for such a small piece and was rubbing too.

Had the suspension arm replaced which resolved the issue.
