Long crank

Has anyone heard of the check valve within the fuel pump failing and causing long cranking when starting?
I ask this as mine does crank a bit longer than usual and I do remember when I replaced the fuel filter a while ago there was no pressure in the system..
I have seen a video where an additional check valve can be installed just after the fuel pump. This was on an E46 though and was under the rear seat so I'm sure if it's applicable to an E53.
What do you reckon?

It's sort of the same hot and cold. What are you thinking...

My car would start first thing with a few cranks but once it was hot it wouldn't start.
I could get it to start but it would take about 2 minutes of cranking but if i left it for 15 minutes it would start.
Never started quickly always cranked over around 6 times.
Took it to a local bm indi and he did a leak-off test and found 2 injectors had gone.
Result now turn the key 1 crank and it's going cold engine or hot.

That did cross my mind however, when it's hot it is no different from when cold.
It doesn't crank forever its just a few turns more than I would like - I reckon on twice as long as it should.
Our old mini R50 is virtually instant on starting and that's how I want the X5 to be if possible.
Ill do a video of it when my B and Q order is ready for collection and Im allowed out from house arrest..

Ideally you need a fuel pressure tester and check rail pressure and see what it does after you switch off. It’s one of those faults where it would probably cost less to buy a pressure tester than pay to get it done.
