Hello People,
I had an air leak in the near side rear air bag - UK - (rear suspension only is air inflated - front is springs)
I swapped BOTH air bags, nipped the air connections, all pumped up nicely & worked, + 100 yard drive.
The Air Suspn Inact warning remained on, so... I thought I'd be clever, cracked open the air line unions to each side (with fuse removed to allow the suspension to sink)
Nipped the unions up again, replaced fuse....
BUT
it will not pump up & the pump will NOT activate.
I drove another 100 yards & back, switched off vehicle, locked it & unlocked & re-started many times, but it will NOT activate the suspension pump...
I have read about driving it for 15 mins, or disconnecting the battery etc, but there seem to arguments pro/against both of these..
Any ideas why or what the possible fix is please ?

You wont hurt it by disconnecting the battery for 20 minutes (neg off first/ on last) it might reset it?

okie, I will give it a go.
Re: Air Suspension pump will not activate
Aren’t you supposed to touch/connect the + and — to each other once you have them disconnected from the battery in order to clear codes.
Re: Air Suspension pump will not activate
Check the fuse again , if its blown its likely the compressor has been working too much with a leaky airbag and has failed.

Re: Air Suspension pump will not activate
It would appear that the vehicle has solved the issue on it's own some how...
I re-started it earlier this evening after it had been idle for 2 hrs, & as soon as the engine was started, it inflated the suspension & was working fine again...
The suspension error warning is still there, but I suspect it may clear itself if I'm lucky.
I did see a post that said--- walk away from it for a while & it will sort itself out... which may be the case.
Here's hoping the error message clears soon.
thanks to all.

That's good and I think the e53 was plagued with those messages even when things appeared to be ok from what I've read on here so I wouldn't worry too much about it

Hi Leslie,... agreed, they love the alerts.
I think it is a rouse to get customers into the Main-Stealer & empty their pockets.
