Hello folks. I am a new owner of a 2011 X3 2.0 D SE. Just seen my monthly road tax direct debit, £28, is this correct, I thought it would be lower than that?

I looked it up before I bought the car and I thought it was 160 ish.

Have you just got it ?.
A m8 of mine got a can sorted the tax out online and they took 2 months on the first payment don't know why but he did tax it in the middle of the month.

One of the reasons why I don't pay my tax by DD , can see them messing it up sooner or later

I agree with Leslie. ..........And not just with VED. I won't use Direct Debit for anything.

Henry our government in Northern Ireland hasn't even sat in 3 years almost to the day , id have more trust in a 3 pound note

Used Direct Debit as a means of paying VED for a number of vehicles for many years, and never had an issue, sometimes they don’t take the initial payment until middle of the following month, but have always received notification in advance of payment being taken. Having said that generally pay annually or six monthly on the motorcycle as often SORN it for the winter months.

Big advantage for me is it’s automatic and they advise you if an MOT test renewal is required.

I think they took 2 months.
