Wheel spacers

Have anyone in here fitted wheel spacers on their car,if so what the best size to get.
Hi bought some for my E53 X5 a number of years ago H & R which bolt to the hub then the wheels bolt to them which is safer than getting extended bolts , contacted the insurance which told me to take them off or they wouldn`t insure me ! Check first with your insurance ?
What model do you have ? check on will they fit if going for aftermarket wheels if you want a better stance or check on alloywheelsdirect.net as they do original BMW alloy wheels .
