Is there a 40d OBD remap available?

Hi just new to the forum. But had an E91 335d before my X70 40d so pretty familiar feeling car.

I realise the mapping 40d has been problematic so far, but I've read that DMS and others are now doing a map. Thing is being based up in Glasgow I would prefer to have an OBD flasher so that if my car gets some work done on it, I can put it back to standard and then put the map back on myself.

So is there one available yet?

If not, is it on the horizon?

Ta

at the mowment the only way these can be tuned is through a dealer

we have our dealer that can do this for you in Tyne & Wear with a 4 wheel dyno dynamics rolling road set up :)

306bhp to 360bhp 600nm to 700nm of torque :)

we are also working with a company to make a tool that will flash these write protected ecu's over the obd socket :)

Cheers Jason. Happy to wait for the tool. If you post here, when it's done or you need someone to test ;) i've sub'd to this thread.

I had the same on my e91 335D so am very familiar with the benefits.

What effect would you expect it to have on 0-60 and mpg? Sounds like it would be significant!

If you would would like to bring your car in for a day and we can do some back to back tests
I have testing equipment for testing 0-60,1/4 mile,30-70 and so on that we can you before and after the remap as we used on totalbmw magazine's 2003 BMW 316i where we took of 1second of the 0-60mpg

I would imagine about half a sec off the 0-60 based on EVOs test of the 535d

Fuel economy may increase by 10%, just depends if you want to use all of the power where of course it will go down !

This will not flag up with BMW though so be wary of your warranty

We can remap these now but will need to remove the Ecu to flash on the bench at the moment

Sounds good. I think I get myself booked in when am up that way in January.

Jason - the car is 2011 40d with 4k miles on the clock. How does the tuning effect warranty and servicing with BMW? I have the 5 years servicing plan with BMW!

As I have always said for years if I can tell a cars remapped the I'm sure the dealers can
We have remapped many cars which are new with no problems as we always keep with in the cars safe limits,
(some of these we have had to remove the intake manifold to get to the Ecu but thats no problem as I'm a ex BMW technician with all the up date diagnostics)
Which have been to the dealers for servicing, software update and so on
As normal

We remapped a 335D when it was new more that 2 years ago, every time he picked up his car from the dealers they said it was the fastest 335D they have ever driven which he just smiled back( I bet it's be on some interesting road test when it has been with them)
It was only last month they said do you know your car has been remapped
Funny as it has our sticker on the boot and under the bonnet
We have remapped a good few BMW staff cars, loan cars and in some of the asia trips some of the dealers newest cars out which have been tested out there

I think it's down to which dealers you goto but would say to ask your local dealer

Just remapped 40D's X5 2010 here his post
