Crank Shaft Pulley Wheel

Driving home last night on a twisty country road when I heard a slight thud from the front of the vehicle. Power steering went off immediately so I had to wrestle the X6 to the side of the road and into a nearby lay-by. Turns out the pulley which is attached to the crank shaft had failed. Had the vehicle recovered to my Indy specialist last night by the RAC. The centre of these pulleys is made of some kind of rubber and it had completely failed and the pulley was lying on the under side engine cover.
Waiting to see what the repair bill will be today

Wasn't there a recall on these? .......................Or am I very much mistaken (in a Murray Walker kind of way)?

No Idea, I've had it 3 years and the only recall i've had was drive shaft related I think.
Just done a quick search and there are no outstanding recalls on the vehicle according to the Gov.uk website.

Try a check without the vehicle registration. There is a recall for power steering pulley issues.

Got the car back yesterday at 3pm all sorted. £495 total cost.
. The pulley was £275 and the belt £35. It probably shouldn't make a difference but it seems to run a lot smoother now.

It should make a difference!
It's not "just" a pulley, it's also a vibration damper.
