Any forum members experienced the massive increase in car insurance that’s been on the news and TV recently. Mines up for renewal within the next three weeks……….
Last year from Admiral…..£527 fully comp for garaged and tracker fitted 4.8is with 2 years no claims…..
God knows what it will be this year based on the press / TV speculation………I've been on the go compare web site and the cheapest quote came back at £857
Mind you some good news……….Got my BMW Insured Warranty quote through……Same price as last year………Can’t believe something actually hasn’t gone up in price…..

First Direct. They said they would beat my renewal (£400 from Swiftcover)) by 10%.
The offer doesn't seem to be on any more:

The comparison websites when I renewed (last September) were nearer £600!

try to get online quote directly from the insurer, not go compare etc.
gocompare quoted me new x5 from 3000, directline quoted £900 tracker fitted and quote valid for 40 days.
understand there is anew tendency with insurers - they don't care if you leave so won't offer better quote or discount for renewal and at the same time will give a discount to a new customer

The Van insurance for the Chippy increased from 1460 to 2240 this year... I have sold the van now instead!
Insurance is getting stupid at the moment.

Don't like this topic, blatant daylight robbery on their parts here!
Mine went up, told 3 factors that need looking at. The fields you select for:
1. Your job description. Technician was cheaper than Engineer.
2. Where the car is parked overnight (get this, street makes it CHEAPER than in a garage)!!!!!!
3. And value you place for your vehicle (be realistic).
Obvious things like clean license and NCB help, one thing you can't vhange is the postcode...

My insurance came down when I bought the X6! Currently just over £400 with Aviva. Checked the price comparison websites and the replies varied from £900 to £4500. I always go direct and it usually works out much cheaper as the middleman is not being paid a cut.

I'm with admiral, and have been for the last 4 years. Every year I shop it around, get the cheapest alternative and then ring them up (admiral). So far, they've always matched it, so no need to actually move!
Note, often you can't get a quote from your existing insurer as "new business", because they recognise your details. As they all give cheaper rates to new customers, this can be a bit annoying. However there are loads of companies out there who operate under more than one trading name, eg admiral, bell and elephant..... Who are all the same company. You can go get your cheaper quote from their "sister companies" then use it to get them to match the premium.

It was just a 55 Plate Peugeot Partner... nothing special at all. Sold it for £2k.
Insurance quote was for 3 named drivers (1 of which is only 21), 6k miles a year, not to be used for delivery, parked on a driveway in a good area, 1 year NCB.
Turks.
