Spotify on Android phone

Hi folks..
New poster. I have an issue with Spotify on my new Nokia 6.1 AndriodOne phone. When I connect the phone to my car via Bluetooth the idrive screen displays no artist, no song details. I cannot change songs using the idrive wheel and controls. However my 6 year old HTC One Android phone which I used up until one month ago worked perfectly. I've been told Android is not supported on BMW. Then why did my old HTC work perfectly?
