Mysterious Key Sized Fob Device

I would be very grateful if anyone could tell me what the 'device' I have used as my Avatar is for, it came with the car but I was not told what it was for?

Auxiliary Heating controller. Your car is equipped with a Webasto Aux heater and has the option to turn it on on frosty mornings so your car is toasty before you drive off.
