I'm from Carnoustie Scotland, Ive just bought a 2009 project E70, the upper timing chain has snapped so im sure to be asking lots of questions on the way

You may find the resources at newtis.info of use.....copy of the BMW Service manual.
Parts database is at Realoem.com (current copy of the BMW parts database). Use the last 7 of your VIN in the ‘serial number’ box to pull up your model.
And the rest of them, just ask the Forum

Thanks for the replies,
Its the M57 engine, I don't have it fully stripped down yet however, 1 of the exhaust camshaft bearing caps & 6 rockers are broken, I removed both camshafts & performed a cylinder leak down test, amazingly every cylinder holds pressure!!
I'm still going to remove the cylinder head when I get a minute.
