So for some time, when the morning is cold, my car can run a bit rough for the first couple of hundred yards(happened a few times). Start and idle is fine, it's just when driving it feels like its going to die and yesterday morning it just died with following error message on iDrive. When started the car again it ran really smooth and everything seemed fine - no loss of power or other symptoms. Also this happens only in mornings with lower temperatures, during day etc is all fine. Carly scan is below - any idea guys?

What’s the Carly codes on the engine/motor.
Have you scanned in on ISTA-D?

This is combustion preheating control unit.
It could be your glow plug controller is playing up again but I would scan using ISTA-D.
I took my car to Doncaster and the seller sent it to specialist who had no problem fixing it. They charged seller around £400. They were more knowledgeable than the dealer who pissed around. Touchwood car works fine.

The only other code I'm getting is Info on the DPF which is there due to high milage. Unfortunately I don't have anything else apart from Carly ... will have to book it into the garage

Take it to a specialist as dealers will
Charge you 120 for a simple scan.

So I went to my local garage on Saturday and their scanner show some error on EGR valve - however they said that they can't confirm and further diagnostic would be needed (or inspections).

I think I'm going to look into the EGR valve and see if it can be cleaned – anyone done this (not using the fuel additives but the actual EGR cleaning)?

Whilst I was there we chatted about DPF and cleaning of it. One of the technicians was saying that Ash mass and Soot mass is the same thing :? Now I’m pretty sure they are different as Ash is accumulated after Soot is burned during the regen – anyone can confirm this?

Egr cleaning it easy I cleaned mine (35d) and my previous 535d. Get some cleaner from halfrauds, it's 4 alen bolts holding the egr on and a circlip connector.
