is there anywhere i can get a full diagram of the way the air suspension is piped my rear suspension keeps dropping and i dont think the 2 air bags could be gone i want to follow the pipework and see would there be a leak in the pipe work or something before i go buying parts because it looks like a tricky job to change them.

I think all the control side of things (valves etc) are under the spare wheel compressor dome. I'm sure there are only two pipes that run to each side for the bags. Probably best to start there.
Good luck with the search.

This may help, don't think it is probably what you really want

do not know what X5 you have so you may have to select your model.

I have had some nightmares on suspension lately so I know you must be frustrated.
The setup is fairly simple unless you have front and rear air suspension. In a rear only setup its 2 sensors, a control unit a pump and 2 bags. If both sides drop the same then I think it is unlikely that both bags have developed an identical leak, more likely that a sensor is faulty or the air control unit. It is feasible that the pump has gone but that should be easy to test.
If you remove the boot floor to expose the spare wheel and then take that out it should remove some of the sound deadening over the pump. Then start the car and get someone to get in the back seats, the suspension pump should kick in and you will be able to hear it. If it never kicks in then it could be the pump but I think the sensors are more than likely the issue. Mine kept lifting although I got a fault on the dash. Have you had a fault code? When I had the fuse out temporarily for a few days the car would drop, so I think it is natural for the bags to leak a little, but the pump kicks in quickly on most journeys (I hear it cause I have LPG and its been moved) or when people get in, which probably prevents noticeable sagging, although that could just be my assumption and could be wrong.
In mine we replaced one sensor only to find it was the other side needed doing, but when comparing new with old there was marked wear on the movement. I would suggest doing both sides at once. Sensors are about £80 each. I had already replaced the control unit based on comments from a diagnostic centre but that was unecessary, if it turns out you need one give me a shout cause I now have a spare (for cars with rear air only!) Think you have to be methodical in your approach.
I had problems for weeks and it p**&ed me off
so I hope you have luck getting it sorted.
